Bill Hovey's Fleet of Foot Historical Tours of Zurich
Bill Hovey's day job is as a History Teacher at Zurich International School. Evenings and weekends he freelances by giving Historical Foot Tours of Zurich. He covers alot of ground in the generally 2 - 3 hour tours, hence the name "Fleet of Foot" Historical Tours of Zurich.

Bill gives historical overview tours of the entire city, as well as thematic tours such as Einstein in Zurich, Switzerland & World War II, and Enlightenment Zurich.

The schedule of upcoming tours is below left. If you are interested in joining in on one, please send an e-mail to the address on this page. The cost is SFr 20 per adult and as Bill is a teacher and would like for students to attend, those under 18 years of age are free.

If your company or organization would like to hire Bill to give a tour, the cost is SFr 150 per hour - 2 hours minimum. If you have family visiting and would like a tour to be scheduled during that time, please contact us and we'll see what we can do:-)

If you would like to be placed on our mailing list to be notified directly of upcoming tours, just let us know!

Comments on past tours:

"Bill has a wonderful way of weaving the history into a complete story with threads from the ancient to the current. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon!"

"Just a short note to let you know that both my husband and I really enjoyed the tour today. Our thanks to Bill, who is such an energetic and well informed guide. We look forward to joining in for the next tour."

"Please let Bill know that we enjoyed his tour today very much! Once more we realize how little we know and are interested in taking these tours for a second time , but then with a note book so we will remember more..."

"It was one of the best tours I have been on.  I have lived in ZH for nearly 44 years, but I learnt more about this town  in two hours from you, than probably in the whole of the time I have been here, or nearly all.   One member of the Group said she never realised what an attractive city Zurich is.   Another said it was very very enjoyable.  Most enjoyed your enthusiasm and the way you swept us all along.    And the nicest comment I found was the person who said you made her want to come back again."

"Just to say that I attended this tour yesterday and was highly impressed. Bill was entertaining,
informative and inspiring as a tour leader, and he really knew his stuff. Highly recommended if you are interested in the cultural and historical background to this great city of ours...as long as you are
fit and fleet of foot! (Bill set a cracking pace to squeeze everything in: no dawdling or window shopping tolerated and certainly no chance for a coffee break half way through!)"

"A group of us went on a 2+ hour walking tour of Zurich yesterday with Bill (also known as Carmen's husband), and it was worth every rappen. If you haven't done a tour yet, see if you can get him to do one. He will show you and tell you things you never knew or noticed, filling in bits and pieces from 100AD until the present, complete with handouts! I generally don't like tours, but I enjoyed it nonetheless, which shows how good it was. Thanks to Anna for organizing, and to
Bill for doing the tour :)"

"I would like to give a big thanks to Carmen's husband Bill for a fascinating walking tour of Zurich yesterday. The amount of knowledge and interesting facts he imparted was incredible. And we
went to parts of old Zurich I had never seen. I intend to join the next walking tour just to make sure I can remember it all the next time I take visitors around Zurich!"

"I generally try to avoid writing 'me too' replies -- but Bill's walking tour was so outstanding I can't resist! He showed about 32 people some of the highlights of Zurich City and inspired me to investigate even more. Thanks again, Bill! It was a great afternoon."

"Just wanted to say thanks a bunch for last saturdays walk around Zürich tour...it was really interesting and I did learn a whole row of things (even though I've lived here most of my life!)..."
